The folks at Money Management International exist to educate and inform consumers about their financial choices.
We are not accountants, and have no particular insight to offer about tax laws. However, we are very intrigued by the subject of tax refunds.
Most financial experts agree that over-withholding is the equivalent of giving an interest-free loan to the government. Yet, so many of us do it year after year! In fact, more than 100 million Americans receive a refund each year.
While a refund is not exactly “found” money (you work hard for every penny you earn!), getting that check in the mail does give you some options. Will you spend it on a splurge or obligation? Will you save the money?
We hope you enjoy reading some of our thoughts about spending and saving. We invite you to participate, keeping the following in mind:
- All content must be family-friendly. Profanity, racial and ethnic slurs, and disparaging personal remarks will not be published.
- We encourage you to respond to any post that grabs your attention.
- We realize that communication is a two-way street; however, not every post will receive a response from us.
- Finally, we cannot answer tax-related questions. For tax information, visit www.irs.gov.
